DO YOU NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO SOUTH KOREA?

If you are planning a trip to South Korea, one of the most important aspects to consider is the need to obtain a visa. The answer to this question depends on your country of origin.

For Spanish citizens, travel to South Korea is relatively straightforward in terms of entry requirements. Spaniards do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. This makes South Korea an accessible destination for short trips, whether for tourism, business or family visits. It is important to note that although a visa is not required for short stays, travelers should ensure that they have a valid passport during their stay in South Korea.

In addition to Spain, other countries such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, the United States and Canada also enjoy the advantage of not requiring a visa to enter the country. All these countries can stay up to 90 days, with the exception of Canada, whose citizens can stay up to 6 months.

K-ETA

K-ETA, or “Korea Electronic Travel Authorization”, is a travel authorization system that allows foreign visitors to enter South Korea without a traditional short-stay visa. This system was implemented to facilitate the entry process and enhance security.

Travelers wishing to visit South Korea for tourism, business or transit and coming from participating countries must apply for K-ETA online prior to their trip.

The application involves completing a form and paying a fee. Once approved, the K-ETA allows travelers to stay in South Korea for a specified period, usually up to 90 days, depending on nationality.

It is important to note that K-ETA does not guarantee entry into the country, as the final decision is made by the immigration officer at the point of entry. In addition, requirements and procedures may vary, so it is recommended to consult official sources before traveling.

K-ETA Exemption

It is important to mention that, at present, citizens of the countries mentioned above are exempt from applying for K-ETA to enter South Korea. However, they may choose to obtain it voluntarily if they wish to benefit from facilities such as not having to complete the arrival card.

In addition, it is advisable to check whether this exemption is still in force at the time of your trip, as conditions may change.
